Communication across cultures: One year until Toronto welcomes the World Public Relations Forum 2016

Date: 02.06.2015

TORONTO, June 2, 2015 /CNW/ - In exactly one year, public relations and corporate communication professionals and academics from around the world will be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for the ninth World Public Relations Forum — and organizers today announced the theme for the conference: Communication across cultures.

The Forum will be hosted by the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) on behalf of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the confederation of the world's major public relations and communication industry associations.

"Our theme — Communication across cultures — reflects the global nature of the World Public Relations Forum, and of communication today," said Global Alliance Chair Anne Gregory. "Now more than ever, communication must break down cultural barriers, enhance intercultural understanding, and help communication professionals add value to their organizations — and to our world."

"For public relations and communication practitioners and academics, the World Public Relations Forum is an event not to be missed," said Renee McCloskey, APR, President of CPRS. "We will be bringing the profession's leading thinkers and speakers together to discuss the importance and value of communication across cultures — and where better than in one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world: Toronto." Gregor Halff, in-coming chair of the Global Alliance and CPRS board member, Carol Panasiuk, APR, FCPRS are co-chairs of the WPRF 2016 Organizing Committee.

CPRS will host the WPRF 2016, supported by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, from May 29th to 31st at the Westin Harbour Castle on Toronto's waterfront overlooking Lake Ontario and the Toronto islands. Delegates can keep up to date with the developing program and make comments and suggestions on the WPRF Facebook page and on Twitter: @WorldPRForum.

Bringing together world leaders in communication, new methods, research and ideas in the field of professional communication will be presented and work-shopped. It is also an opportunity for Canada to showcase the excellence of its public relations and communication practice.
