Guy has more than 15 years experience leading all aspects of communications and engagement in senior executive roles across a diverse range of sectors including legal, government, not for profit and retail. Guy recently accepted a new challenge at the iconic company IKEA where he leads the Global Internal Communications function for the IKEA Group to support and enhance the internal communication and engagement network across 29 countries.
Guy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and a Bachelor of Law from Deakin University and an MBA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
In a world where we are regularly over saturated with content, organisations today must ensure they weave their culture into as much of their internal communication as possible for there to be any chance of effective engagement. Unless employees genuinely believe they belong to a community of co-workers, (including and especially their leaders) who share their values and interests, chances of achieving any sort of engagement cut through will be slim. Effective internal communication must reflect those values and shine a spotlight on and give voice to those co-workers who live them. Guy will present a number of examples of how IKEA takes advantage of its Scandinavian culture of inclusiveness to ensure that every single co-worker feels that they are the face and the voice, of IKEA Group.
