Communication and citizen engagement pave way to Smart Cities

Cities consume enormous resources and emit around 70 percent of the world CO2 emissions. Cities need to be part of the solution combating climate change. Smart Cities incorporate technology, like sensors, to utilise city infrastructure more efficiently. The smart city is a city with an open mind and engages with its citizens. Communication is therefore critical in achieving sustainable cities.
